One great thing about participating in social activities and interacting with people(especially in a new environment since you are more distant from your own personal biases in a sense and closer regarding some other perspective) is to broaden your own understanding of not only the human beings, but also your own self.

Be vigilant and see people behaving like you to find out the things that you would be missing or be gaining while having certain behaviors.

You may sometimes see how stupid some of your actions are and avoid doing them!

On the other hand, since you are treated with some stupid behavior at the moment as you once behaved, it would be easier to let go of the mistakes of other people and continue living a happier life!
